The Tiger is king of the animals, with softness concealed within power showing a courageous attitude. The Tiger strengthens the lungs and flowers the qi into muscles and tendons and into the skin. Practicing the Tiger helps build up positive forms of yang aggressive energy and helps strengthen a weak willed person.
The Tiger Stance (TS) is strong with tight fists at groin. The breath flows naturally with the movement.
1.Tiger Claws: From TS R empty foot F and show both claws/ SW gather qi to TS/ROS.
2.Claws Dig In: Same, after show claws, claws down, digging in/ SW gather qi to TS/ROS.
3.Corner Pounce; empty R foot to R corner with claws/ SW F as claw down/ gather qi to TS/ROS.
4.Double Pounce; Empty Step with claws to R corner, bounce (claws down), SW B retrieve and step further as claws bounce/ gather qi to TS/ROS.
5.”Tiger Climbs Mountain”: Step out R foot and L arm as if swimming with claws, with a slight lean and crouching tiger walk, Continuous walking like swimming.
After practicing the Five Animal Frolics, it is recommended that one do standing meditation or walking then Sitting Meditation for a few minutes to reap in the full benefits from this qigong practice.
